Zox is a queer, trans, orphan, artist and engineered in Yekaterinburg, Russia, raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, currently residing in Vancouver, British Columbia on Unceded Coast Salish Territories.
They work predominantly in the mediums of graphite, ink, pencil crayon and paint. They attended the University of Manitoba’s Fine Art’s Degree Program from 2010-2012. Since then, they have held a solo show, collaborative shows and will be published in the anthology, The Anatomical Tattoo, in 2017. They are currently enrolled in the Commercial Illustration program at Langara College.
Their work focuses on themes of the anthropomorphic, orphan and feral as it pertains to their own personal identity of the adopted. They disassemble human components, merging flora and fauna to better understand the intricate networks of intersection in society, gender and sex.
Zox has been tattooing since January 2016. They are co-founder and tattooer at Sticks & Stones Tattoo Collective in Vancouver, BC.
